Open-shelf scanning works well for the bulk of consumables, but it relies on staff scanning every item, every time. For higher-value, higher-risk or frequently mislaid items, that is where gaps appear. XT Supply records every access against a named user, so usage is captured at the moment of removal rather than depending on a scan later. The aim is not to lock everything away: it is to apply closed control only where it pays back, and keep simpler replenishment for everything else, on the same platform.

XT Supply connects to your HIS/EPR, ADT and theatre systems using standard HL7 messaging, and to your ERP, finance and procurement systems through standard interfaces. Items removed from the cabinet are linked to patients, procedures and cost centres, and replenishment data flows to procurement and finance with no duplicate data entry. This supports patient-level costing, giving finance teams a clearer view of what each procedure actually consumes. Integration scope and compatibility are agreed with your IT team before contract.  

Access is designed to be quick: users log in and the cabinet guides them to the right location. For urgent situations, emergency access options mean staff are not held up by the system. In practice, most time is saved through what disappears: searching for stock, checking other stores and manual counts. Training and local super-users are part of every implementation.  

The cabinet knows what has been removed, so it knows what needs replacing. Par levels are set for each item, and replenishment is generated from actual usage rather than visual checks or periodic counts. Reorder levels can then be reviewed against real usage data and adjusted over time, which reduces both stock-outs and overstocking. Routine counting is largely replaced by system data, with spot checks where your governance requires them.
