The Impact

Reduced risk of medication errors, easy to use, improved stock control and revenue.

Pharmacy benefits including

  • Improved stock control - thsystem has allowed the home to take control of their medication inventory and manage stock more efficiently. This has resulted in not only minimal waste for the home, but significantly less returns to the pharmacy, allowing pharmacists to focus on other tasks instead of organising returns.
  • Increased our revenue prospects by allowing the pharmacy to generate additional revenue which in turn has helped the pharmacy to expand the services that they can offer to the community.
  • Complying with the latest guidelines - the system is compliant with the NHS Digital IG Toolkit and the backup server ensures the pharmacy always has business continuity without any risk to privacy.
  • Easier to amend prescriptions - the system allows the care home to access clear and concise information about prescriptions at any time and also allows the pharmacy to immediately detail any changes to prescriptions.
Care Home benefits:

  • Easy to learn and simple to use system - the care team find the system very user friendly and makes medication administration much easier than their previous processes.
  • Reduced risk of medication errors - there is no longer the risk of residents overdosing as the exact time of medication administration is recorded on the system and the care staff know exactly when to administer the next dose to residents.
  • Clear audit trail and reporting dashboard provides management with a transparent and straightforward picture of medication administration at the touch of a button that can be accessed remotely.

"Omnicell eMAR has allowed us to bring our processes in to the 21st century by using a digital, state-of-the-art solution, as well as generate additional revenue which means that we have been able to expand our services to further support the community. Eton House are also significantly benefiting from using Omnicell eMAR in their home as the system allows them to manage and administer medication in the safest possible way. It’s great motivation for the team that we are providing the best service and care to our patients."
